In February, Copenhagen is for the second time filled with beautiful light installations as Copenhagen Light festival takes over the city.
There will be light on dark drifting clouds, beautiful old buildings, architectural squares, the city's canals, and other city spaces.
There will be 35-40 light installations. You can go experience them by yourself our join one of the festival’s guided tours by Segway, in canal boats, in kayaks, as well as regular guided walks.
Let there be light! In the heart of Copenhagen, February will see the capital’s second annual light festival take place. Light installations are a unique art form that transform the inner city and the harbour area into an open-air gallery, where the ‘canvases’ come in the shape of bridges, squares and buildings.
Sponsored by the Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen, the 2019 festival will see 35 to 40 installations in at least 20 venues. The inaugural festival in 2018 included plenty of exciting events and art works on the theme of minimalism and sustainability. This year’s festival promises to dazzle its audience too, with its use of urban spaces, colours, movement and co-ordinated sound effects.
Art can be enjoyed for free on foot, or on guided festival tours by bike, Segway, canal boat or even in a kayak. The festival is a great stage for light designers and artists to showcase their talent – and a feast of light for all to enjoy.
